Planning an event is a full time job, with sourcing vendors, visiting venues, tastings, competitive shopping and requesting proposals (whew!), let me tell you it is work! But thanks to our unique Referral Services, we do all the work for you!
We have an extensive database of vendors Valley wide, provide us with your requirements, event date and budget, we will source a list the vendors for you start with.
You save time, money and energy running all over town setting appointments all to find out the vendor really cannot meet your needs.
How it works
We simply charge $50 for up to 2 Vendor Categories, $75 for up to 4 Vendor Categories, $150 for up to 8 Vendors and only $200 for unlimited Vendors!
After payment is received we will contact you to acquire information to assist us in your search, we then review your budget and breakdown costs for you to use as a guideline per category. Usually between 3-4 days we will supply you with the list of businesses that will best meet your requirements and budget. We will provide you with the contact information and any proposals they have offered, we also have many vendors that offer exclusive discounts. *We do not have any "Preferred Vendors" so you will get the vendor(s) that will best fit your needs.

We offer many options for Brides to choose from including: full service, partial, getting started, day of coordinator, planning workshops and/or informational consultations. We are here to make your every moment worth celebrating. Contact us for a personalized proposal.
Fees
Our Wedding services fees vary based on your need and the depth of services requested. Typically consultation fees are $50 per hour, Day of coordination is $850 - $1,500 and full service $2,750-$5,000. Please contact us for more details and we can put together a proposal for you.
Special Events
At Sterling, every event is special! What IS more important then your Parents' 50th Anniversary Dinner or the upcoming birth of your first grandchild?
Though, these moments are precious, they are often stressful. Gift yourself (and your family and friends) and allow us to do the work for you! Our experienced team can assist you with every detail of your special event.

Schools and Nonprofits
Without schools and nonprofits the poor would go without food, animals would go without shelter, the sick would go without medicine and children would go without an education. We applaud the dedication and hard work of all of our schools and nonprofits that give their all everyday to serve the community in need.
We understand that resources are limited, staff and volunteers are overworked and fundraising is down and we want to help!
We can assist you with your golf tournaments, friend/fundraiser, appreciation reception, galas, fashion shows, and family events.
Integrated Development Approach
With our hands on approach we want to help you maximize your fundraising and marketing potential by working within your organization with your board, staff and volunteers to assist you with your fundraising and development potential.
Our fees vary based on the need of the event, though for fundraising events we offer significantly discounted rates generally ranging from $50-$4,500.

About Us
Sterling is the manifestation of a dream, one of a young woman who wanted nothing more then to offer the best of her creativity, imagination, and determination to make others' dreams come true.
Sterling Event Design founder, Carrie Schmidt, began her career in hospitality, sales and marketing nearly twelve years ago, gaining experience in Orange County, CA, NYC, NY and in the Valley of the Sun.
After graduation, Carrie moved to California to pursue her dreams working for the Walt Disney Company. There she met Aaron, and after a whirlwind courtship and accumulated frequent flyer miles, Carrie made the move to the “Big Apple”. There she honed her craft working in events sales. After spending a few years in New York, the blue water and white sand of California were calling once again.
Days were spent selling and planning events and evenings were spent managing them. Carrie found her calling working for the leading sports entertainment company, where she was encouraged by the satisfaction and enjoyment of the guests and the accomplishment of a job well done. Soon Aaron and Carrie were planning for their own wedding. Even with years of experience in planning events Carrie soon realized the challenges of choosing locations, finding caterers, arranging flowers, and dealing with the worst of wedding vendors. Her experience and artistic talent was put to use to plan and execute the perfect wedding weekend.
A few years passed and they decided to move to Phoenix to start a new chapter of their lives with their beautiful growing family. Locally, Carrie has worked with many of the event industryies leading professionals and has executed hundreds of events to the satisfaction of her clients and their guests. In 2007, she decided to launch Sterling Event Design, she wanted an opportunity to assist Brides, Executive and Non-Profits in creating beautiful events flawlessly. Here she is given the chance to utilize her creativity, organizational skills, and years of experience, and she has never been happier!
Michelle Voyles received her many years of event planning experience working alongside Carrie in California and Arizona, also working with the Walt Disney Company. Together they worked tirelessly executing events for corporate and social parties then Carrie started planning her own wedding. Michelle was the one working with Carrie making favors, tying bows, creating seating charts. She was the best friend a girl could have, Michelle always greeted each challenge with a smile and "what can I help with". It was at Carrie's wedding she met the love of her life and eventually moved to Arizona to be with him. Carrie and Michelle have worked side by side for 7 years, for the last 3 years Michelle has been the BEST wedding and event manager assisting hundreds of Brides achieve their wedding day bliss.
Micki Bessken, Micki offers us 40+years of business management and accounting. She works hard keeping the office running, making sure the bills are paid and organizing files. She works behind the scenes making sure our vendor files are constantly up to date and negotiating the best deals for our Clients. Without Micki, work would be a lot less exciting as we would spend 50% of our time digging ourselves out of paperwork, and for this we are eternally grateful.
We cannot forget to offer the credit to Aaron and Jordan Schmidt. They allow me to do this, they are the best husband a son a woman could wish for. Aaron has been at every turn encouraging and supporting me. As for Jordan, he lights my day, he is creative and proud, his beautiful innocence reminds me to enjoy today and live life to the fullest. I aspire everyday to be a better person because of him. I am the luckiest gal in the world to have them in my life, thank you both for allowing me to live my dream.

Community Arts, Recreation and Education Foundation
A portion of every event is donated to aid local organizations that offer under priveleged children the opportunity to take part in local Art, Sports & Recreation and tutoring programs.
At Sterling, we are firm believers that every child deserves the opportunity to better their future by taking part in extra curricular and tutoring opportunities. The opportunities will help enrich their social and educational development along with aiding them too to maximize their potential and develop an understanding of community involvement. It is proven that children who are exposed to the Arts, Sports and educational assistance are more likely to graduate high school, continue through college and become contributing members of society.
Additionally, we will also dedicate our services at discounted rates to any Non-profit organization, Business or Corporation that is looking to raise significant funds to better the community they serve.

Here are our answers to many of your questions, concerns or misconceptions about hiring a coordinator/event planner.
Why should I use your "Vendor Referral" services?
We created these services to better meet the needs of Brides, managers and non-profits that just need a little bit of help getting started. By utilizing these services you can save yourself some valuable time and energy, not to mention sleepless nights.
What does a "Consultant" do?
Consultants are there to offer knowledge, experience and assistance in planning events. We help with vendor recommendations, budgets, review contracts and much much more.
Why hire an Event Planner?
WHY NOT? On average a wedding or special event takes over 250 hours to plan, a planner can help you immediatly set the wheels in motion for you to have all the major details set up in just a few days! Planners are also able to help you negotiate costs ( saving our clients 15%-20%!), review contracts (which can also save $$), organizing timelines, budgets and helping to organize duties of family and bridal party. Also consider the "A,B,C, D's" of event planning:
A= Access = You have access to their experience, vendor/venue resources and answers to the myriad of questions that you, your mom, his mom and your cousins, best friends, sister will have.
B= Budget= Whether your budget is $10,000 or $100,000, why not make the MOST of it by hiring someone who can help you navigate one of the most expensive days of your life.
C= Creativity= You've dreamt about this day your entire life, but likely have no idea how to create the elements to make your dream a reality. We collaborate your dream and our resources and creativity to make your create your dream and make it reality.
D= Details= Fast forward to the day of your wedding or event, you (or we) have worked tirelessly on every detail of your event, but how are you going to manage everything on your own. By having us there, every detail is attended to and you dont have to worry about a friend or family member missing a step.
How many events do you do a month?
We NEVER take on more then 3 weddings a month and limit our overall events to 4 contracted a month. We are a boutique operation here at Sterling, we want to be able provide our clients with the time, service, energy and focus that is necessary to make their event a success.
I have a small budget, I dont think I can afford a consultant/coordinator!?
If you have a small budget you NEED a consultant, make the most of every penny you have, it will more then pay for itself in the end! On average we are able to save our clients significantly more then our fees, so really I just makes sense!
My venue has a coordinator why should I hire my own?
It is great that venues have corrdinators, heck we were those coordinators! But I can tell you first hand that it is their first priority to handle the sales, business and safety of the venue. That means it is very unlikely that they will be able to offer you much time to troubleshoot issues, organize details, or offer suggestions.

At Sterling Event Design, we truely feel it is important for a You to have the knowledge to make great decisions while planning your wedding. After all, knowledge is power and we want you to know what questions to ask, what to look for in a contract, to know what to budget for and if you want assist with a little creativity.
Meetings of the Brides workshops are geared to help you and a very small group of other Brides navigate the wedding planning process with discussion about contracts, budgets, professionals, décor, theming, Q&A session and more! Here, you not only have an experienced Planner to discuss details and concerns, you have each other to bounce ideas and past Brides to offer advice and working knowledge of what worked for them and most importantly, what didn't.
